Bright Horizons at Carondelet physical environment and daily programming is designed specifically for those with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. It provides stimulating and social activities for the members while providing respite for the caregiver.
To better meet the needs of those coping with the challenges of dementia, there is a greater staff to member ratio and the facility is equipped with a snoezelen. The snoezelen is a specially designed space that uses light and sound elements along with scent, touch, and music to trigger positive memories that induce well being. This helps people feel secure, and reduces agitation and anxiety. Altering the environmental stimuli of the snoezelen to be more robust has been found to help reach non-verbal individuals and reduces wandering and sundowning. In addition, Bright Horizons Carondelet is equipped with Video Visiting so that caregivers can check in with their loved ones during the day.
Bright Horizons at Carondelet is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members and their families can choose their schedule, whether it’s every day or just once a week. Half-days are available depending on the situation.
Bright Horizons at Carondelet is located in the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet Provincial House.
